What to see and do in Lanzarote
Cueva De Los Verdes
This lava cave (35542) turned tourist attraction is a must-see when visiting Lanzarote. Step underground and explore the 6km tunnel of natural rock formations and amazing colourways. Parking can be found outside the cave entrance.
Cactus Garden
One of Canarian architect César Manrique’s many creations on the island, the Cactus Gardens (35530) are a family-friendly day out. Wander the former quarry to spot over 1,000 species of flora and fauna before dining on tapas in the garden’s coffee shop.
Park up in the nearby village of Guatiza for a pleasant stroll to the gardens – look out for the green, metal cacti by the entrance.
Timanfaya National Park
Covering the north-western side of Lanzarote, Timanfaya National Park (35560) is an impressive display of Lanzarote’s volcanic past. In contrast to many other National Parks you may have visited,, you won’t find greenery and wildlife here but a staggering landscape of bold colours and jagged terrain, the result of multiple volcanic eruptions over 300 years ago.
Charco de San Ginés
Spend a day in the cosmopolitan capital, Arrecife. The city is blessed with a gorgeous coastline and a serene lake, Charco de San Ginés. Wander around the lake to find a great selection of restaurants, shops and attractions. Or, sit and watch the boats bobbing on the water.
There’s plenty of parking dotted around the lake and city centre.
