What to see and do in and around Slough
Go Ape Black Park
Nestled in 535 acres of woodland, you’ll find treetop adventure for the whole family at Go Ape Black Park (SL3 6DS). The course is over half a mile long and includes a 170-metre zipwire. While you’re here, there is also forest Segway, a fun way to explore the park. Parking is available but at a cost.
LEGOLAND®
If you’re travelling with youngsters, then you won’t want to miss LEGOLAND® (SL4 4AY), which is just a short drive from Slough in your rental car. There are LEGO-inspired rides and attractions, including LEGO City Driving School. Parking is available at a cost – but can be booked online in advance.
Eton College
Less than 20 minutes from Slough you’ll find Eton College (SL4 6DW), an exclusive boarding school attended by the likes of princes William and Harry. You can join an hour and a half guided tour on Friday afternoons. You’ll see the school yard, college chapel and upper and lower school, as well as the Museum of Eton Life. There are paid parking spaces nearby.
Windsor Castle
You’re only 15 minutes away from the world’s oldest and largest occupied castle – Windsor Castle (SL4 1NJ). It’s been home to the royal family for more than a thousand years. Admire it from the outside or head in for a closer look. If the flag is flying, the Queen is there. There are long stay paid parking options in Windsor town centre.

Tummies
There’s a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu as well as Sunday lunch and specials at Tummies – a centrally located restaurant. There’s also a cookery school and a Chef’s Table, where your meal is cooked in front of you.
New Bettola
This Italian restaurant just outside the centre serves up fresh dishes cooked to order. Head here for lunch or dinner and choose between pasta, meat, fish and salad. There’s also a wood fired pizza oven. In the summer, you can enjoy your meal in the garden.
Panjab Restaurant
This Indian restaurant specializes in Panjabi cuisine. The extensive menu includes sharing platters, curries, gourmet burgers and rolls, speciality dishes and small plates. Chicken tikka burger, Tandoori lamb chops and Masala fish curry are just a few things on the menu. All enjoyed in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Best days out near Slough
Thorpe Park
Thrill seekers will adore a day out at Thorpe Park (KT16 8PN), which is under 30 minutes away from Slough via the A308. There are more than 30 rides including SAW - a horror-themed ride with a 100 foot beyond-vertical drop. Parking costs, but is cheaper if bought in advance online.
Ascot Racecourse
Take the A332 in your rental car to reach the charming town of Ascot in around 30 minutes. Here, you’ll find the prestigious Ascot Racecourse (SL5 7JX). Royal Ascot takes place in June, but you can see races throughout the year. Dress up, place your bets and cheer for your chosen horse. There is lots of parking, which is free during race days.
Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
You’re just over half an hour via the M4 from Kew Gardens (TW9 3AE). Wander around the lush green gardens, alongside the lake and Palm House, admiring the variety of plants. There are events here throughout the year, including Kew the Music, an outdoor summer concert in July. Parking is limited and is paid.
